Health, Safety, & Wellbeing of Black Youth
Project Overview
How can we explain to our children the feelings of prejudice that the Black community experiences if we adults find it difficult to understand and absorb it? A mobile application that offers a variety of tools and support specifically catered to the needs and experiences of Black families could be one potential technological solution for parents addressing the impact of health, safety, and well-being on Black adolescents.

Who is going to use the product?
This application would be designed for Black parents and their children.
What are they going to use it for?
1. Health and wellness information: Information on a variety of health and wellness topics such as mental health, nutrition, exercise, and sleep, could be included in the app. It might also offer sources for locating medical professionals who are aware of the concerns of Black families.

2. Safety resources: The app may offer guidance on how to keep Black adolescents safe in a variety of circumstances, including interactions with police enforcement, going through public areas, and overcoming racism and discrimination.
3. Community support: To assist families in connecting with people in their community and establishing a support network, the app might feature a list of Black-owned companies, neighborhood associations, and cultural events.
4. Educational resources: The app might offer tools to help Black adolescents achieve in school and beyond, as well as resources to help them learn about their culture and history.

5. News and updates: The app might offer information on current events affecting Black youth, as well as chances for both parents and children to get active in advocacy and activism.
How are they going to use it?

The app should be built with input from Black community members and tested with a wide set of users to guarantee that it is accessible and user-friendly for Black families. The software should also be advertised by specifically reaching out to Black communities and forming alliances with pertinent businesses and individuals.
